To remind my readers - at the end of June 2016 Newmarket had 177.7M shares outstanding so today's volume accounts for 10.9% of total share count.
Definitely there was a big change among Newmarket shareholders. Expect the info soon.
The similar situation was at Richmont Mines - on AMEX as many as 9.3M shares changed hands (15.1% of shares outstanding). Well, well, the boys are playing big game...
It's a quadruple witching Friday, which could bring some late volatility on Wall Street. In the last hour of trading, stock index futures, stock index options, stock options, and single-stock futures expire.
ReplyDeleteHappens the third Friday of September, Dec, March, June.

DeleteInclusion into some indices?
Deletevery interesting, SD!
ReplyDeleteBUT, I believe the volumes were even higher. I have checked the StockCharts site; and the closing volume for RIC was 18,082,952; and for NMI.to was 39,045,504, with the the difference being in the last 1/2 hour of trading.
Oh, the suspense as we await the identity of the new shareholders, if disclosed...
